There is a place for YOU with the
Lay Dominicans

IF....

  • You are called by God to follow the almost 800 year old tradition of the Order of Preachers, committed to an apostolate coming from prayer, study, and community.
  • You are faithful to the Magisterium of the Church with St Thomas Aquinas as a guiding star in your journey.
  • You appreciate studying the rich history and traditions of a 13th century Order as part of your life.
  • You wish to join a community (Chapter) which meets monthly, while you continue to live in the world as a layperson whose life includes prayer, daily Mass when possible, fellowship, on-going formation (study), Marian and private devotions, the Rosary, and the Liturgy of the Hours.
  • You will make an honest effort to continually focus your life on study as a means of preaching and advancing the sacred truths of the Catholic faith, especially, the contemporary documents of the Church and the Order.
  • You are willing to discern the "signs of our times" and value the "constant elements" of our changing world, following the Vicar of Christ and the Bishops in union with him in this discernment.
Our Formation Program
  • 6 - 8 sessions of Postulancy leading to Reception in the Order.
  • 12 sessions of Novitiate leading to First (Temporary) Promise.
  • 3 years of Temporary Promise followed by Final Promise.
  • Dominicans profess to a life of study.
  • Dominican identity is located in the Rule.
  • Dominican identity is reflected in the lives of the Saints, Blessed, and other Dominicans.
